Just returned from a very pleasant long weekend in Cala D'Or. Found the quality of restaurants to be pretty good and reasonably priced. Resort / marina has a good vibe, only irritation is the relatively (compared to Palma) long drive to get there and the necessity to hire a car. Met Jan the marina owner who could talk the hind leg off a donkey so understand a bit more about the marine pricing.
Also spent some time in Portals and enjoyed some lunch there. Didn't see many orange Germans but had a good chat with the guys in the Fairline dealership. Not the cheapest place to eat out but is open year round and still a contender (when I eventually sort a boat out).
