Cala D'or crew

Last time I was in Mallorca I used ROIG and they insisted on checking the wheels before they would let me go. Had to wait for the best part of an hour for the guy to turn up.

Plus this time we're getting in late so I'd prefer 'on airport' and not mess about with shuttles.
 
I always use Record Go, book online and opt for the basic insurance as I have an annual excess policy. I've had more than 20 cars from them in the last 2 years and never had a problem when returning the car. You get credited for any unused fuel so no point worrying about filling up at the airport. Picking up at the airport is usually a 10-15 minute wait although I once waited nearly 45 minutes when there was a huge queue. A Ford Focus for your dates will cost about £40 plus the fuel you use. If you opt for the fully protected insurance, it's about 80 extra so quite expensive. Returning the car is a doddle, taking no more than 5 minutes if they decide to give it the once over but in most cases, they just take the keys and away you go. I usually go for the BMW 1 series as I know it'll be less than a year old. There is an out of hours premium if collecting after 11pm but it still works out way cheaper than hertz etc.

People in the garage are rude always and have been for years
Cars can be old nails. I do the 1 series now ask to avoid this
In one rental I rejected 3 cars on the trot ( no A.c , flat tyres) so maintainence questionable

Off season a car is 0.49 euro cents a day !!!
 
Yes, they definitely do not do vip service! I used to pay the extra for the premium fuel package mainly because it includes the exclusive queue for pickup but found as often as not it was either not manned or being used as a normal queue, so stopped bothering. I find joining the queue outside the arrivals hall faster than inside. I've never had any issues with the garage staff, I've been back extend the hire or add a driver on occasion and they've always been ok. Dropping off, I've never really engaged with them. Always had decent cars too, but I've been told you're more likely to get an older car if booking through a broker rather than direct, not sure if that's true or not. Going for a BMW 1 or Nissan Juke seems to guarantee a fairly new car and as you say, out of season they virtually give you the car, I think they must make most of their revenue on insurance rather than car hire.

You pick up from airport in car park never any queue the insurance is all included and you return it with the same amount of fuel that's in it may be slightly more expensive but never had a problem with them as as there offices are in alcudia I can drop car there after a couple of days of provisioning etc https://rentacarvanrell.com/en/ and they won't charge you the extra €40for collection after 11 pm like record etc and rumour has it they had a mclaren delivered in the week ? ?

Never see a human. Book online. Pick up car in car park with keys in wheel arch. Lock keys in on return. No waiting around. I think the prices are good, not really compared the smaller firms, but I'd pay 20e for not having the hassle.

Paul, I tried Vanrell, filled out their online booking form but didn't hear back from them. Gave them a call a few days later to see where the confirmation was and they said they don't have any cars. Would have been nice of them to let me know! So I've booked with Record Go instead.

Incidentally, on the subject of driving in Spain, apparently it's illegal to park facing the wrong way. Furthermore, it's a separate offence to cross oncoming traffic so that you can park on the other side of the road. Spanish police freely give out fines for these offences and can easily cost a few hundred €. Something to be aware of.

That's not at all like them I have just booked a car for the beginning of October for a week and had confirmation within an hour I'm amazed they didn't have any cars or was it a specific model you wanted ?

Nope, just requested a basic car. I suspect they couldn't be arsed to deliver one to the airport for a midnight collection. What annoyed me was the lack of comms, actually had to call themrm to get an answer. Also, they don't have a real online booking system so I fear my card details are now sitting in their email server. Hey ho!

Well my collection is 00.30 and no probs with that I have collected cars at 02.30. Before. You say no online booking is this the site you were using as this has the booking facility I always use .....

Yep that's the web site. I'm pretty certain (having done lots of web development work myself) that the form you complete just sends a request to the company instead of making a proper booking in real time. Hence the confirmation isn't generated immediately.

Your probably correct as I usually get an email saying my booking is received followed by a reservation voucher within a few hours if in office hours or the following morning. Oh well there loss
