Caframo Fan Vibration

I have recently installed Caframo 747 2 speed fans. Held in the hand or placed on their rubber suckers they were very quiet. But screwed into place the sound level increased significantly due to resonance, although the bulkheads are pretty solid.

Surprisingly the instructions give no guidance in this regard and Caframo has not replied to my query. Clearly something like closed cell foam backing and some form of grommet around the screw should help.

Details of quiet installations would be welcome.

Try tightening the nut in the base. Sometimes this is too loose and you can get excessive vibration.

Thanks, but if tightened any more I would not be able to swivel the fan.

A friend improved the situation by moving his fans to a more solid mount. My fans are still quiet relative to some makes but perhaps 3 times noisier than unmounted. I would recommend Caframo include some reference to mounting in their literature - if only to stop people drilling holes in the wrong place!!
