Having the same chain locker as you and 70m of 10mm we found the same thing. My proposed solution was going to be changing windless and moving to slippery new high strength 8mm but given that 50m is about the max I’ve ever deployed and that maybe once or twice this seems a good idea. Is the end of the chain now anchored in the v berth locker?
As we’re sitting alongside in pouring rain and strong winds wondering how far the walk to Lidl in Puerto Santa Uxia Ribeira will take and how wet we’ll get, I’ve walked from chart table to forepeak and taken some photos.
As you can see, the chain is secured in the locker.

Very capable boats but with a reputation of going to windward like a submarine!

I crewed on a local Contessa 26 in the Bequia Easter Regatta some years ago. The tradewinds were blowing lustily, and I remember in the Round the Island Race (which started off with a long beat up to Bequia Head) we managed to be the first boat to reach the head, beating 50 footers over the ground - partly as a result of the submarine effect (we had 4 1/2 heavy lads on the rail (I was the 1/2), and she was powering upwind very happily), but probably more because of good tactics by choosing to stay inshore rather than go out in the channel.

Thanks for that. It's certainly a clever solution to a problem I understand is pretty common with the sealord/oceanlord.
