I am replacing & repositioning the mast [motor] and need to extend the cable for the JRC radar: can anyone advise where this can be found? I read that JRC products are no longer sold in the uk.

I wish also to prepare for future installations of gps, navtex, wifi & fluxgate. Can anyone advise whether the cables for these items are standard electical or whether special screened string is necessary?

Thanks,

John G

Radar cable is easy to find - talk to any decent firm which fits boat radar, they'll know of a source. It might not be identical to your JRC cable, but it'll do the job. They'll also be able to help with fluxgate cable.

For GPS, navtex and wifi, a lot depends on the type of antenna. Some are sealed units, supplied with their own cable, and it would be better to use this rather than have a joint up the mast. Suggest you ensure the new mast has cable conduits (and find out exactly where they are) so you can easily route cables later. Also remember that GPS and navtex antennae don't need to be high up; pulpit mount would be fine.
