Cable touching engine!!

That's what it needs long term, but don't want to start doing a big job like that now, wanted a temporary fix until winter. It's been like it 10 years but just noticed the melted bit.
I can't think to a better/easier temporary fix than forget it, and reconsider in another 10 years...

For the love of god, replace the throttle cable now!

Not sure if I mentioned previously, but a few weeks ago my friend spotted a dodgy throttle cable, thought he'd leave it until the end of the season.

Up the river one day, planing speed. Rower up ahead so decided to slow down. Pulled back the throttle and *snap*.... the damaged cable had seized and broken the attachment on the throttle body. Thankfully we killed the engine and no one hurt. It was a pain to get back to base, as I was head first in the engine bay pulling the throttle.

New throttle cable ordered that evening!
