I’ve never had 12. That’s an impressive herd. You could have gone into production. Though I suspect that milking a cat is even more difficult than merely herding them.

The mother of the kittens looked after then 5 at first followed by 6 before we could get her fixed, we have a big garden do n issue keeping them.

What stink our cats lived outside at night and only came into the house during the day.

Cats are very clear and do not leave and muck around unlike dogs

Lots of people have cats in their houses & do not realise the smell they make
In my working life I have been in between 15000 & 18000 houses. One can tell what pets as one approaches
The worse situation I saw was when My son sold a supply & fix window contract to a woman who had a deal to look after young girls in need. Generally teenagers with no home.
My men complained about conditions & called me to site. I walked in one room where a young girl was asleep & cat s..t was on the duvet. Cat s..t up the stairs. Cat s..t just in front of where they were fitting a window. The stink made me sick.
When I was there the councill social worker visited & refused to enter & walked away
I lost count of the houses with cats mess on the carpets & litter trays where the cats missed. Cat food stinks
My wife had 2 cats & we did not realise the smell they create however, hard we tried to keep them clean untill they went to the cattery in the sky.
CATS STINK
I have just as bad stories about dogs although that is more due to pig ignorant dog owners than dogs themselves.

Cats regularly come and cr4p in our garden, on the lawn, in amongst the vegetables, on the paths. Dogs never do that.
I chuck stuff at them if I see them on my property. (Only illegal if I actually hit one, I believe.)

Hosepipe is best, they hate it and soon learn.

You have contradicted yourself. In one part you say it is too cold to be outside & the next you chuck em out when you go out. & at night (when it is coldest)
The fact is that with 12 cats a couple of them will want to crap indoors. Sometimes in a litter tray if they can do it without missing & sometimes behind the settee. With multiple cats you do not know which one is at fault. So cannot train them effectively. Rubbing 12 cats noses in the same turd does not always work. If you go out & leave food indoors for the cat that is poorly or old the food smells. That is often the cat with diahorea. It likes to go in the bedroom so do not forget to shut the door.
Then there is cat hairs. Don't tell me how many just one cat leaves, with its accompanying cat ball, coughed up in the study.
I can tell you that with more than even 2 cats, the house stinks & you do not- like all cat lovers- want to admit it.
