Cable 25 mm2 crimping tips?

I'm putting in an anchor winch and thankfully the main wiring through the boat is pre-installed, but I still need to crimp connectors onto the winch cables. I have a crimping tool and the correct size connector but are there any tips or tricks?

Just one, try and set so it crimps in one stroke.

Finish the job off with adhesive-lined heatshrink.

Some recommend filling the terminal with some appropriate water resistant gunk before crimping.

Take the greatest care (or try your hardest) not to nick the copper strands when you strip the cable. Best to use a proper cable stripper if you can get one. I dip the cable end in duck oil (similar to WD40 but better) and I prefer rubber sleeving to heat shrink but there's not much to separate the two types.
