Spent Saturday making up some cabin sole board.
60mm Mahogony, 5mm Oak. 20mm (18mm finished)
Bonded together with West Epoxy.

Just have to take the originals off the boat so I can trim to shape then varnish them up.
There about 7 boards to make so it's not a quick job. More of a winter project.
This is the largest of the boards.
 
Will it not be prone to swelling/cracking? I'd have thought solid wood perhaps half that thickness laminated on a lump of plywood would be more durable, but it's not something I have experience of. Looks lovely though.
 
Nice looking piece of work. I shaved my floorboards down a little maybe a strong 1/16th of an inch and then coated the sides and bottoms with west system epoxy. I have had no swelling problems since I did this but did have problems before I coated them with epoxy.
 
Quick update.
Test fitted the new boards. Final trimming before varnishing.

Are those side 'windows' readily available. I cant read the name on them?

What is the worktop material, is that readily available?

I enjoyed your PhotoBucket.... looks typical wind/tide conditions out of Portsmouth entrance. A good job you don't have a lightweight awb! :)

Side windows are Rutgerson. Available to order. (I use Allspars.)
Worktop Material is Hanex Solid Surface. (http://www.idsurfaces.co.uk/)
The last piece I bought off eBay at a fraction of retail albeit scuffed in quite a few places.

One of the regulars on Talulah is a member of a sailing club. One of the evenings was a guest speaker from the Coastguard.
His Powerpoint presentation started off with the picture you are refering to saying "People go out in all types of conditions."
She thought for a moment that coming out of Portsmouth in those conditions could only be Talulah. It took her a few moments to realise it was.
She was then able to follow up and get a copy of the photo.
