Would western red cedar in strips be any good for a cabin floor, glued down onto the very white GRP? And suitably varnished of course. It is a pretty and soft timber. would it be useless as a flooring medium? My other option is cork tiles, they are a bit Naff though.
The floor has some sections at a slight angle so is not flat all the way through, thus faced ply would look odd.

have you been recently in a newer Ibis hotel ?

Ibis is using in the shower stall " holly teak". It looks like real and I had to touch it, to make sure its laminate. That would make a perfect cabin sole.

How to get it ? No idea, but have a look here

Robins Timber and one of the marine upholstery suppliers(their name escapes me at the moment, but I could look it up) supply a Formica-type laminate. It's available in several different wood effects, and they claim that it's used by all the big yacht builders. It would certainly be cheaper and quicker to fit than the real thing.
It's priced at around £70 for a 8ft x 4ft sheet.

We used flexible oak panels in our kitchen. They look like piano keys.
Still have some if you PM me.
On board I would be inclined to keep it simple and paint the curved floor,
after suitable preparation, then bath mats on top are great.

Nope, cedar's no good. Its too soft, splinters easily and dents far too readily. I'd go for the real deal and use teak/holly flooring from someone like Robbins Timber in Bristol. The only problem (apart from getting it home) is cutting it to fit properly. Edges need to be bevelled to fit the hill contours and fitting around fixtures is a nightmare. Good luck.
