Firstly may I thank all the people who responded to my recent request for information on antifoul removal. Three weekends of scraping, wet and dry and rollering and it now looks like new- far too good to allow it anywhere near salt water !

The problem I now have is that the steps and floor (teak and holly ?) below decks are showing the wear of time and I would like to bring them back but have no idea how to do it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

If the floors are really bad, they will need stripping and revarnishing, if not too bad, a good flat and rebuyild the varnish with a good polyurethane one pack varnish. Use the same varnish, if you strip them off, following the varnish manufacturers instructions. If you need to strip them off completely, consider using Coelans on them, it will lats for ever inside the boat and has a natural semi non-slip properties.

Most solutions to this will involve at least some sanding. Since it's very likely that your teak and holly is a thin veneer, keep the sanding to the absolute minimum. It's all too easy to sand right through to the substrate!

I've got this job to do too!

I'll probably take them back to bare wood. Then get my mate in the motor trade to laquer them.

Much tougher than any varnish, though watch out for the Torvill and Dean act when heeled. Looks good though - The sole boards, not the skating!
