Apart from the lime green colour, it looks a practical and comfortable shoe. I make no comment about the fashion aspect :)

Like Sara, wurds fail me....!

The ordinary Crocs do slip when the sole is worn.
The best ones on wet surfaces are the Bistro(£34.00) & Professional(£25.00) Crocs sold to the catering trade by Nisbets and others -fewer topside holes and a grippier sole- they last longer than 'civilian' ones and drier & warmer in cold weather too!

Got my last pair in croatia and they are truly lethal on fresh international deck paint, amongst other surfaces. New ones from Inja are just as lethal. Both together cost under a tenner though.

Í´ve found that once the soles wear down a bit through use on normal surface (roads etc) they are lethal on wet GRP. Wouldn´t get them again, although in fairness the spec of these boaty ones say they have a rubber surface on the sole.
I like crocs too and have worn them for years as deck shoes, but I seem to remember a test in one of the boaty comics which damned them as lethal on wet decks. I couldn't understand that verdict at the time, and still can't. The aesthetic issue I leave to fashionista saddos to get wound up over.

Genuine Crocs are very grippy on wet decks until the sole is worn smooth. Any non genuine croc is lethal on wet deck, the Mammoth makes a great winter boat shoe with its wooly lining.

At first I though we'd seen a resurrection of an old post - to my geriatric knowledge Crocs have been around for 8 years.
Invented in Tanzania - as a superior form of flip-flop from the original cut down car-tyre. They had difficulty in getting around prior art except for the foamed PVC?, Croslite, but managed to squeeze a further 3 design patents in the US.
At the price they have engendered many outright fakes as well as many copies.

I've six pairs on the boat - none @ the €45-55 asked for the (alleged) genuine ones - the best price I've had was €4.80 at the Chinese shop in Ag Nik on Crete. The oldest (still wearable after 5 seasons use) were from Marinopoulos (Carrefour). It is wise to recognise that the Chinese are very optimistic about size - buy them at least 2 sizes larger.

PS 3 pairs belong to the wife.. those are the ones in white, lime-green and shocking pink. It helps to distinguish them from my sober black.

Thank you for the info. Crocs have the best deck sole I have come across and I
have been buying Sebago's since the mid '70's.

I have just ordered a pair in blue and white!

Post script.

Unlike the traditional "Mini Mouse" shaped shoe, the deck shoe is not a particularly broad
fit. Shame, I have returned mine. Don't forget to keep you proof of posting for follow up!

I will continue to get shoe parcels, (broad fitting Sebago Docksides), from the States.
Shame again that these are not available in the UK.
