Forgive my general ignorance.... Iv'e just purchased Standard Horizon CPF300i chartplotter. (New to me)

Iv'e never purchased C-Map charts before and I'm a bit confused as to what is what.

Can someone explain the differences between NT+ and MAX?

Then can you expand as to the differences between Wide and Local.

If I buy a wide chart will it include all the detail on the local chart? Is it better to buy one card that covers a wide area or several local cards?

My cruising grounds potentially extend from Hull to The Wash to Dover and Netherlands / France

Would this chart be my best buy?? W89 NT MAX M-EW-M227 WIDE AREA Chart C-CARD NORTH WEST EUROPEAN COASTS.

Many thanks.

Max has extra features such as tidal streams data etc. Defo the one to go for. Wide will have all the data that is on the local charts, just fir a bigger area.

Sometimes there is a limit on the size of data that the plotter will read. I have an old C70, and have to use the very basic C-Map charts, as it is incapable of reading the bigger charts.

Be aware that C Map cards have different shapes and they do not interchange - do not ask me how I know this !

My Matsutec uses a C Map Max format, and not the NT+.

Not a cheap mistake to make, and the wrong one won't work no matter how hard you try to ram the bloody thing in !

The coverage is only a question you can answer. I do feel the person who designed the similar but not interchangeable physical formats and the accompanying coverage descriptions has a lot to explain.

+1 for PRS Comms. They sorted me out with an updated chip for my CP180i last year, and were able to answer all my questions. I sent them my old chip and they sent me the new one.
