Where's he gone?
It's not the same without him. Always found his posts very educational.
Hope all is well.

Apparently banned for starting a thread on race.

Not banned, chose to go as many do on here if they have the slightest bit of polite word in their ear. (and no it was not me who did the "word")
As far as I can ascertain Byron 'banned' himself and was not barred by ybw. He made a comment which resulted in a complaint and, it is alleged, he received a slapped wrist from the moderators which he felt was uncalled for.
I had the same at PH marina on Monday and am still pondering how to respond. Not going back is one option but that feels petty as I think their employee created a big problem out of a small one that I confess to starting.

um....apologise and get on with enjoying the river?
As someone who spends much of his life with 'foot in mouth' disease I'm quite used to having to cover up for my faux-pas.......unfortunately not everyone sees the funny side to my humour.....I just say it the way I see things which isnt always welcome![]()
There is a thread in the lounge that, in my opinion, addresses issues similar to the one that Byron commented on - indeed, it mentions the same individual.
I am minded to ask the moderators why, if Byron's comment was considered inappropriate, this thread has not been pulled ?
.....the combination of his experience, humour and grumpiness puts even boatone to shame!
2 out of 3 ain't badI am considering my position .......![]()
far too many people seem to take exception about being asked to do something by Natalie who happens to be a young woman. .
Richard - you moderate, you explain, you are a visible and respected entity on board the forum and out at the shows. It is much easier to comply with a request from you - because we 'know' you electronically. You are not invisible, uncommunicating, unexplaining, a remote 'eminence grise' behind a blackberry. I know it's N's job to crack the whip from time to time, but where's the basis to enable the rank and file to respect and honour such decisions - or even to challenge them from time to time as has been done on occasion, to mutual benefit.
We are all on the same side, but captains have to earn their stripes. Being a 'young woman' has very very little to do with earning authority, in contrast to having it written in as part of the job description.
