Has anyone bought or know of anyone who's bought a power boat from america? We're looking at 30ft ones which seem to be cheaper from there as opposed to the UK. Is it a reliable thing to do etc or a complete nightmare/risk? We're novices so any advice helpful...

This question comes up frequently so you'll find lots of information by using the search facility. Good prices in the USA are offset by shipping costs, VAT and the need to comply with the Recreational Craft Directive, the dreaded RCD.

There are companies that specialise in importing boats from the USA and they take all the hard work out of it. Even after all the extra costs you can still save quite a bit.
