Huddl 2work quite well, but the abysmal battery life limits use, unless you have an inverter onboard.

I bought a Hudl 1 for thirty quid and it's excellent. We even watch movies in the evening rather than talk to each other.
Some phones rely on the SIM card for increased accuracy of the GPS, but at sea the accuracy should be sufficient.
