Buying a weather station

I realised my barometer may not be too acurate when during a passing gale it was showing fair. In fact it never reaches change but in it's favour it may be right sometime during the year.

I looked on Amazon for a weather station that will give me the barometric pressure and a trend.

I was inundated with a thousand different stations ranging in cost between 10 and 600 pounds

Are they worth it, do they work, any suggestions for features worth looking for or a good reliable model.

Thank you

I've got an Oregon(?) which I've had for a few years. It's excellent and the 24hr trend graph is very useful indeed. The weather forecast icons are interesting but no more.
The other gizmo's temperature, humidity etc are mainly window dressing but it's helpful to be able to tell if I am warm or cold

IIRC it cost about £60. Well worth it. Better than a cheap barometer but not as attractive as an expensive one!

You can tweek your aneriod baro to read whatever you want! (screw at the back)
However, something that records and displays the trend without tapping and moving a memory needle, is more useful.
We chose a Vion for the boat, and have a Lidl cheapo in the house.
The problem with the cheapo is size,(huge) and it's not a thing of beauty, but it does the job.

Believe me I have played with the screw but true readings have gone to the big weather station in the sky.
Ihave seen ones that also give a 4 day forcast. Don't know how this works or if it is acurate.

I've got the "Ascot" cheapies from Aldi, £18 IIRC, compare baro occasionally with local station, Manston, periodically and it appears to be pretty accurate.

Agreed not a thing of beauty.

But it works.

I have a Lidl one. I have had it for some time so almost ceratinly not the same as any recent offerings.

The barometer is a dead loss. It is sensitive to temperature changes! Move it from a warm room to a cool room and the reading changes quite significantly.
When the battery is replaced it has to be reset.

It regularly looses radio contact with the second sensor located in the greenhouse. Periodically looses the time signal too ( an Oregon RC clock in the same room never does!)

Same here. It comes in two styles, "portrait" like the one in your picture, which I have at home, and "landscape" which I have on the boat.
