Buying a new boat at the Southampton Show

The Varianta salesman almost took a big chunk of money I don't have away from me last year.

The 37 footer was good and they had a decent show offer. Nice boats...

I understand that it sails well, and is relatively cheap, but it lacks a lot of internal finish. And, it totally fails the "row away" test for me.

Its the hull of the 371 with only basic fitments to get people a large boat on the water for a reasonable price. You can then add the bells and whistles as you go on.

The Easy 9.7 fills a similar place in the Bavaria range and that is what I looked at first. However when you add the extras that are desirable the gap to the 33 narrows and you are still left with the plain stripped out interior you can't change. Even at heavily discounted prices they don't seem to be selling. The new one I looked at when I started in the Spring is still not sold. Most of the new boats are well specified suggesting that if buyers decide on a new boat they don't want "economy" versions but are perhaps more likely to buy smaller than economise on features.

Speak to boats.co.uk - they are jeanneau dealers. There business is based on taking Px biats and they have been doon it very successfully with mobos for years.

They are supreme deal makers and if the jeanneau ticks the boxes they will make it work for you

They've got almost no sail in their listings. Big stock list though. Amazed if all of those are P/X boats.

NOt all are PX - anything with EB code is brokerage, ES is stock owned by them. For sure their history is as a power boat dealer but if you can set aside your prejudices then they are good to deal with. They will take a PX on a factory order, not just stock

I'm looking for a new AWB 37-38ft subject to them taking my existing boat in part ex. Looking at closer to £100k than £150k. Has anyone who has done similar any advice or words of wisdom please? Thanks Alan
Personally, I'd be looking and talking to the dealers long before the SBS with the sweetener of we will sign at the boat show so you get some good publicity out of it and my appearance fee is X% discount.
