Just had an away weekend in Suffolk.
Knowing it's a boaty area , went to the Butt & Oyster , on the Sunday and had an excellent meal.
Plenty of Choice.
Adnams ale direct from the barrel.
Not too expensive allowing for Southern prices.

We booked.

Looked like it would be very very busy on a summer weekend.

Well it looked real enough to me.
The barmaid just gave the glass a couple of twists to puit a head on.
How easily we can be deceived :)

Fake barrels :dejection: whatever next.

Are the ones in the Ship Inn at Levington fake as well? They consistently serve the best pint of Southwold, not least because it doesn't get drawn through one of those ghastly sparkler things which aerates the beer and ruins the taste. A Northern invention I believe which is wrong wrong wrong for a lot of fine ales :livid:

I was there last weekend and asked the barmaid how they kept the barrels cool. She cheerfully conceded that the beer was pumped in from the cellar.

Still, it was about the best pint of ghost ship I've ever had, washed down with some fine local sausages, so I can't really complain.
