Butane won't stay lit?

Ihad the same issue a fewyears backin Holyhead. Mymate was the head of sales NW for Calor, he said quite common, people leave the bottle valve open when empty, it fills with air, then they fill it and it compresses the air. The air messes things up, so he said justpoint the bottle down wind and blast someof the gas out to displace the air. It worked

Air in the cylinder causing Dangerous Pirate's problem then.

Just as I said in #25 .... but no one believed me !

Surely pointing it downwind means it’s on its side so only gas would vent. I believe what OP did would be the safest, gradual vent and burn the gas as you go. Very controlled and very low risk of fireball.

That happened to me early last year - I had replaced the ordinary original with a 'Marine' version. I refitted the original and it works perfectly. Marine version was obviously C***.
