In any sensible strategy you need to be proficient and confident as a single hander. Step 1.
Any new crew will soon sense if you have not lept this hurdle.
Which brings us to 1st Mate. I'd she's confident she'll come along in nice UK summer weather. Why would she not? Only sailing with you 2000 miles away needs looking into?
Building crew takes time for most of us. Friendship and shared humour is much more important than having the sailing skills of Tom Cunliffe, excellent company as he would also be.
Some of your friends will w/e with you, and then extend to more distant waters, bring their wives, then yours will want to too. Let her take over the galley and spec it.....share it, you know.
