Burial at Sea?

Ok it is not the kind of subject anyone likes to think about but sometime or other I am going to die.

Being buried is expensive and does not do much for your looks.

I could be cremated but that does not appeal to me either. They could scatter my ashes at sea but the chances are the wind would be in the wrong direction and Auntie Rita and Uncle Bob would swallow and spit me out all over the deck. Not very dignified, although if I got into their eyes there may be a few tears or even someone else staggering blindly overboard.

I have thought about being stuffed and made into a figurehead but with pontoons the way they are I am liable to get my nose pushed in.

I do want my body to be of some use and my wife suggested I would make a good fender but again I don’t think I would last long.

I could however go for the sliding off the wooden board under the flag and strait into the sea. It’s cheap, non-messy and at least I could help a few fish with their evening meal. OK, Bob and Rita may go in for a large cod and chips and get a bit of me but that’s OK.

Can you still be buried at sea or can you think of another suggestion?

I have heard that bodies buried at sea often wash up on the beaches of the IOW. Also with today's bottom-dredging trawls you'd need to be tipped in somewhere very deep to ensure you stayed put.

Yes, that is in my will, and no one gets paid until I lay by the old Edinburgh No 1 Buoy position.
Mrs FC wants cremating, then loading into a giant firework, and sent of whith a whoosh, a bang, a big sparkle and some oohs and aahs. Genius.

Real irony

I can't help being reminded of the funeral of James Doohan, 'Scotty' from 'Star Trek', famous for uttering such lines as " The engines cannae take it Captain ! "

He arranged to have his ashes scattered in space, a sideline service offered by satellite launching rockets.

The launch was delayed for quite some days; by engine trouble...:)

I believe th first firing went wrong and he was rcovered from the Arozona desert and the second firing ended in the sea.

The creator of star treck did have rocket launch and is floating around space somewhere.

These burial at sea companies look as if they probably do a good job but will also take half of your life savings to throw you in the sea. If I have any money left I want it to go to a worthy cause like buying my kids a packet of chips.
All I want is a black bin liner with me and a Rocna in it to keep me down and to be kicked over the side.

A guy I know in Mallorca has a nice sideline in taking relatives out to "bury" ashes at sea. The ashes are in a container made of salt. It is dropped over the side and very slowly dissolves so avoiding the problem or emptying the ashes from the boat and getting granny blown all over you

would a rocna be the appropriate hook? Surely something with more holding power???:):):)

Ashes to be scattered amongst the pots off Old Harry. Give the crabs something back in return for all the pleasure they have given me!

Seriously, ashes don't blow away quite so easily. The bulk (such as they are) are very dense, although there is some dust as we discovered scattering my dad's ashes in a loch high up in the hills above Comrie.

if you want to do something useful, why not donate your body to medical science?

apparently they'll have any body.....!

The thought of some pimpley 6 year old student surgeon laughingat my naked body puts me off. If they had spent two weeks in a fridge let them see how big theirs would be!!!
