Bumper Dock Fenders

I have fitted these to my pontoon [Dock fenders = a public admission of failure, if ever there was one! :o] and I find the holes for the screws mostly coincide with the gaps between the end of the slats and the edging strip, which doesn't make for a really secure fixing. I think it's best to first fix the fender to a plank and then screw the plank onto the pontoon where you can get a good 'bite' with the screws.

One of these days I really must get around to doing it. :(
 
Agree with parsifal, the holes line up perfectly with the gaps. However, I managed to move mine left or right to get some wood to screw into. Like the plank idea

I used stainless srews and washers, they cost almost as much as just one of the fenders....

Don't agree that they are a public admission of failure I use them as it saves SWMBO getting any fenders out when we come home and hence putting them away when we leave!

Good idea but we put fenders out in case we end up somewhere where we didn't plan to be :o:D
 
I just sogged em on with stainless self tappers and washers. I know what yer mean, they're just a bit of comfort in case things get a bit out of shape. Not a public admission of failure, just sensible. Better to fit a fender than knock a lump out of yer bow!
 
We mould polyurethane pontoon fenders amongst other things,its something i started doing when i got into boating,i did it originally for my own mooring,so i didnt have to deploy fenders when moored,i had alook about on the market and decided to do my own, as i mould alot of polyurethane and other plastics for the engineering and oil and offshore industries. www.ashmouldings.co.uk

I like your pontoon fenders, they look better than my Plastimo ones.

Industrial cable ties are useful, if the marina doesn't want you drilling holes or screwing into their pontoons.
