I need some parts for my BUKH DV10ME. Does anyone know where I can get them at a discount, or do all the agents sell at the same price as the importer, i.e. those two helpful men at Poole?

I only ever found parts from Poole. Such good blokes though that it is worth the cost to someone like me who, mechanically, needs all the help I can get.

Some years ago, I rang BUKH UK to ask about spares for the engine in my brothers boat. The guy I spoke to first congratulated us on having one of the best engines on the market, then suggested we gave up drinking, smoking etc. so we may be able to afford the spares.

Had Buke 10 in a 28 footer some years ago now, needed to replace the starter motor and the engine shut down solenoid.

Got a real shock when looking for replacements but managed to get onto a local engine repair specialist. Still very painful but a lot less than Buke were asking.

Check around your local engine restorers, does not have to be a Buke specialist or agent.

Good Luck.

What parts do you need?. I found in the past that the stop soliniod for example could be got from a Bosch dealer at a fraction of the price (1/3) that was quoted by Bukh in Poole . I got an Alternator as well from an Auto spare outlet when I needed one. Just examples.

Inlet valve, exhaust valve you would likely need to buy from Bukh. The exhaust bend, I had one made locally by a small pipe work company in stainless for £25 three years ago, it will last the life of the engine.

You could try here Don't know how prices compare but they seem to stock a good range of parts.

Interesting site and they do have prices. I looked at a DV20 and priced a set of piston rings. One set is over 500 pounds which is about $1200 Australian. I think I know why some yachts are extremely cheap at the moment. It looks like they have a problem with the decimal place in the wrong spot. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I need a stop solenoid. Can you tell me where you got yours, as local places dont seem to stock or be able to get one.

Thanks

Ian
