BUKH Exhaust Elbow

There's a longitudinal split in the exhaust elbow of my BUKH DV10 engine. (A common problem with these engines).

They are a lot more expensive than the BUKH part; are they any good?

I make them from black malleable iron plumber's fittings for my DV20. It costs less than £40 for the parts. I replaced the first one after four years, but it was still sound. Number 2 is now four years old, too! I think I'll leave it alone for another year or so.

Blk Mall 45 deg M&F elbow-156 1 1/2 inch qty 1
Blk H/W barrel nipple 1 1/2 inch qty 1
Blk Mall sq tee - 161 1 1/2 x 1/2 inch qty 1
Blk Mall 45 deg M&F elbow - 156 1/2 inch qty 1
1/2 inch male bspt x 1/2 inch brass hose tail qty 1

Hi - that is interesting...

I also used plumbers fittings for mine but I had to bodge the water in fitting. Seems you have done the whole job with standard parts...great.

Have you got any pics by any chance? mine will need doing in a few years (lasted 5 years so far) and it would be nice to do the whole things with standard bits.

I've done similar with an old YSE8. Worked OK. How are you connecting the exhaust hose, should there be a 1 1/2 " tail on the list? I brazed in a piece of SS tube to the downstream elbow.
If preferred, these items are available in 316 stainless for not much extra cost. One supplier is Nero Stainless.
