BUKH ENGINE

I have recently purchased a BUKH DV20 engine for my little boat and have been told to soak the heat exchanger in acid pickle to clean out the collected gunge.
Firstly is this the proper way to go about this job?
Is there a better way to clean the heat exchanger?
If this is the way to go, where can I get some of this acid?
What kind of acid is it and how much is the dilution?
Any help in this area would be much appreciated.

G'day Ian,

Whenever I need to clean the heat exchanger I take it to one of the local automotive radiator specialists, they will not only clean it like new, but also leak and pressure test it; and, this means you have not been exposed to harmful chemicals, as they don't have word 'marine' on their logo, you will also find the cost very reasonable.
