Someone on the LM Owners forum is having trouble refitting their DV24 decompressor shaft, and in particular needs info on the return spring.

Does anyone have a photo of one of these models with the rocker cover off, or can anyone explain how/where/which way round the spring is fitted? (I understand the decompressor arrangement for these models is different to that for the DV10 and DV20.)

While I'm at it, has anyone else had trouble fitting the rocker cover, and trying to keep the gasket in pace as you do so? If so, is there a cunning trick to it?

Hi

I have a dv24 but I’m not on the boat for five weeks so difficult to advise.
Try ringing Bukh uk and ask them advice (al and norm have gone now more the pity) see if they will email you a page out of their workshop manual.
Sean Brackstone from marine enterprises is a good source too as he sells lifeboat engines with very few hours on them.
Hope that helps.

Rob

Just read the forum but couldn’t comment being a guest.
Try marine enterprises as he’s very knowledgeable with Bukh’s. I’m sure he is a main dealer but possibly supple second hand kit too.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The chap having the problem has got the workshop manual and parts list (they don't make its location clear), and has been talking to Bukh UK. They couldn't explain how the spring fitted, and didn't have a relevant model in to photograph for him. He suspects his spring is broken and mounted in the wrong position. Bukh won't supply a replacement spring alone, but only as part of a rocker & decompressor assembly at £310 + VAT + shipping!

I'll pass on the suggestion about Marine Enterprises.

Pass on if you would that now the Bukh guru norm has retired the new franchise I found lacking in knowledge when I rang up for parts.
I would live to know where to contact Norman as his knowledge was brilliant.
