I'm sure it's a bit of an old chestnut but can not find the info I need. I wish to fit a temp gauge that will work as well as the warning alarm. Can anyone recommend a gauge that will work with the existing sender unit (twin terminals) please? Many thanks.......

Bukh 20 temp gauge

I looked at this five years ago and found the following specs for a gauge.
VDO CPV Cat No. 305000 52mm 12V 120degC. 6mm spade connectors. This was from an Australian company www.electricboatparts.com.au and the price then was A$49.65. (I'm in Australia.)
I did not proceed. Instead I have fitted a plastic remote temperature gauge, with the sensor strapped to the thermostat housing and the display just inside the quarter berth. I bought the gauge on eBay from Hong Kong for about A$6 including postage. It seems quite accurate and the internal battery which came with the unit has at this stage lasted over six months. You can see it here. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/New-Digital-Thermometer-Temperature-Sensor-LCD-Display-/280502544000. I have not tried to lengthen the cable as I believe the calibration of some types of sensors can be affected by cable length. However, they are cheap enough to experiment with.

I should add that i don't know if the VDO gauge will work with the sender you have in your engine. The firm also sells VDO sensor/switches (about A$70 in 2006).
