My Bukh DV 10 starts readily enough but runs at very low revs for about 15-20 seconds after firing, whether I use the throttle or not. After the initial reluctance to run at a reasonable speed it performs perfectly. All comments greatly appreciated.

So does mine and I don't find it a problem, remember it is a single cylinder engine that has lain in a cold enviroment for some time before you go to start it.

Thanks for reply. I was a bit concerned because it's only recently started doing this.

always rember

that if something has done something for a long time and then starts doing something differently, something has changed to cause it.
as a general rule a diesel engine is set to run at full revs on start up what ever the throttle setting, the governor is set by the throttle position, as soon as the engine starts the governor kicks in and regulates the revs according to theottle setting.
now if the engine doesnt burst into life and is responsive to throttle it means that some thing is affecting the governor because it is not reacting to throttle position.
use this basic premise to trouble shoot
