Bukh 24hp, 3 cylinder with Martec fresh water cooling

Looking at a boat with Bukh 24hp

Is this accepted as a reliable engine? Are they prone to any particular defects?

Boat is 1986, nothing to say engine is newer but looks immaculate.

No, Bukh are Bukh, solid. Expensive spares when they do go wrong, but that is not unique!

Bukh 36, despite initial qualms due to surveyor stating underside of sump pitted, has proved very reliable. Filters etc can be bought for a lot less than the 'official' versions.

Hope that hasn't tempted fate
