Hi.
I ran my engine today after a couple of months of rest. I noticed as it was running a speck of water being thrown out from behind the water impellar - not much, intermittently. After it had run for about an hour and a half there was a pool of water below in the engine bilge, again not much, about two kitchen towel tissues to soak it up. I have noticed some water in the bilge before, however, I have never noticed any water coming from behind the water impellar housing - this is not to say it was not leaking previously.
Would this be the water pump leaking?
If it is, would it be a gasket/ seal leaking?
If the pump has been leaking would there be any damage to the engine? There is no sign of water in the engine oil, if this is possible. Can the engine be run like this temporarily?
How big a job is it likely to be and what is entailed, since I have never had this problem before?
Would it be the far side of the water impellar leaking?
Fair winds,
Lancelot
