I have just changed the fuel filter on my Bukh 10 h.p. engine. When I was emptying the diesel from the old filter, two small parts fell out of the central hole - a thick, black rubber ring and a white plastic collar with two lugs. The new filter had no such extra bits. Do I re-use these bits on the new filter? Any help greatly appreciated.

I do not know the Bukh fuel filter but it sounds the same as used on GM cars, the black rubber washer is the center seal and the white clip holds it on.The lugs clip into the outer ring of holes in the filter and are allways falling of or sticking to the filter housing. The new one may be modifyed or the seal lost in transit, check with the dealer who supplied it.If you have no seal in the center the fuel will pass through without being filtered
