I'm reading this forum now for a quite a time. Time for me to give something in return...
About a year ago we ordered our first boat. She is now delivered in our garden, ready for the finishing work.
At this moment its still 'casco', so the windows, doors, railings, electricity, heating, woodwork, electronics, floors, swimpatform etc will be jobs I still have to do!
The shipyard will mount the engine and the steering system

Many thanks. This looks to be the start of a very interesting thread:)

Is this a standard hull and superstructure? Or to your design? What engine/s and drives are you planning?

Don't worry about the language. There are many Brits on here that struggle with English;)

Wow, that all looks a pretty serious undertaking for a first boat! Serious boat, serious garden, serious machinery and serious engineering task getting all that machinery into a wet,recently harvested field! You sound like a brave man and one not afraid of a challenge. Well done indeed!:)
 
Looks very interesting. Will be glad to see regular updates and plenty of photos please.

How long do you anticipate it taking till completion?
 
Hello and thanks for the reactions!

Here the answers to your questions:
The hull and superstructure (grp) is a design of a Belgian boatbuilder and a Dutch client of him.
We have the thirth out of three that was build from the same mould.
Options on the hull were the amount, size and place for the ports and haches, material choice and the colors.
For the interior we have more choices for the layout. The shots were placed in dialogue with the shipyard, so that everything will fit the way we like it.
Here is a drawing with the layout the way we want to make it.

The engine will be a 160hp Weichai-Deutz 6-cylinder, with standard rudder.

If all the work on the polyester and motorisation is done, I will start finishing the boat and I am hoping to be ready for next season. Maybe I'm a bit to optimistic, but we can't wait to sail.

I gotta say I cringed when I saw the lifting gear used by the crane driver. The transverse crushing lands imposed on your hull, deck and gunwhales by those ~45 degree strops would be pretty large. The boat will get a lot heavier after you have fitted it out and if i were you I would insist in future that the boat is only lifted using spreader bars to eliminate athwartships crushing loads

@ JFM: The lifting gear is indeed not as it should be. De cranedriver did not have enough slings, so we used the yellow ones I had.
Too short and no spreaders, but we did knew that it would work that way: I have seen the guys at the shipyard doing it quite the same due the low height in the hall. I was amazed how strong fiberglass is :eek:

The weight as she was lifted was 4700kg according to the truckdrivers scales.

When finished the weight will be about 9 tons. I think we have to look for a different crane then, and lift it like you suggest.

@ Anders: at this moment I'm trying to place the glass so that the boat is waterproof first, heating will be the next step since winter is coming!

Tomorrow I'm going to the sistership in The Netherlands to check the railing on that boat.

@ newWave: the owner of the ground next to our house has no plans to start building in the next year(s). :)
But I do have to make arrangements with the farmer that uses the ground.
Craning and transport must be in between growing and planting.
This means lifting out will be in april or otherwise only in september, depending on the weather etc..
An other option is to lift the boat over the house, but quite expensive:D

That makes good sense K_d. OK at 4.7 tonnes, but too risky at 9 tonnes
Please keep posting updates on this story from time to time. Your English is great by the way :)

good to see your thread on here,
post as many pictures as you can, thats what we all like,
and you will get loads of advice

I remember you're still waiting for prices on the victron stuff,
but you know I was quite busy lately, on the boat, aswell now in the office.

You're living so close to me, but I can't offer you much practical assistance, due to lack of time,
moreover I'm better in telling how to do things than doing them myself :D
anyway,
I'll alway's be available for a opinion on your questions
but many on here have much more experience

At this moment we are waiting for the people from the shipyard for finishing the polyester-works and installing the engine and steering-system.

best way for posting pics is uploading the photo's on a site like photobucket, or similar.
then copie and paste the link in your post.

when you do a reply on a post with pictures, you can see how such a link looks like.
 
K_D this is shaping up to be a fantastic thread, I wish you the best of luck.
If you need any help with RCD compliance etc feel free to drop me a pm, or post on your thread, I will be keeping up to date with it.

I know it can be a daunting prospect on a project like this and would be happy to help.

@Clartius: thanks for the offer to help with the RCD compliance and stuff.
At this moment I'm not sure that the paperwork of the shipyard will be enough to register the boat (as commercial craft).
Have to check on that later! So there is a good chance I will ask you some things later on...
