Buffer pads for wax

I am really confused with the so many different buffer pads around. What type of buffer pad is suitable for wax (not compound, not polish; just the last part of waxing)?

If this is for gelcoat on your boat then it wont take a lot to bring up a shine with wax. I hand cloth should do it. Otherwise I would also suggest a lambswool mop which can be had at various costs and qualities, starting at about 5 quids.

i've just gone for 3M lambswool. hoping to wax tomorrow

The lambswool is only for polishing the wax. What are you applying the wax with it should be something else. May I suggest a soft polishing sponge, red or black?
