Assembled components of the toilet.Superior toilet lid with slow closing feature(36 e). Bucket (3.50 e) bunk top which will be copied on to a thicker bit of ply.To be used in emergencies as the marina installations are nearby although peeing at night will be normal in the bucket.

Agree it's the only sane boat toilet option. Drilling a hole below the waterline to wee through feels mad to me.

HOWEVER, your haste is sourcing the bucket is potentially catastrophic. You should have spent a great deal of time viewing various different buckets; discussed the pros and cons of each bucket on YBW. Finally you need to get Mrs Wandsworth to pass final judgement on the suitability of bucket and reject it, moving on to another, and another.

It was Mrs w who indeed. Suggested this very bucket. It fits the dropping area perfectly.I initially went for a round bucket but she saw the error in my thinking!

What a bargain compared to a marine toilet, plus no seacocks and hoses. The nearest to this would be an Elsan. Only advice would be only allow a little additional content to avoid slops.
I still recall emptying the Elsan on the family caravan holidays……slopping to be avoided at all cost!

Had I known you wanted something like this I could have sold you an almost unused Thetford 365 flushable Porta-Potti at an attractive price. 😉

Porta Potti® 365 - Thetford
There was another thread where the various options were discussed. I'm surprised you didn't offer then ....

I do think though, that Wansey has rather rushed into this purchase.

I found the need to empty ours on our F27 tri, mid channel, heading for Cabourg. Obeying the golden rule, I went to the lee trampoline. Very wet, it’s blowing 15-20kn, but that’s ok, I have canoeists dry trousers on. My friend on the helm, let’s call him John, is mostly responsible for this early emptying. Jhn was inexperienced with tri sailing, the boat is doing 14kn on a fine reach. Just as I tipped, he stuck the boat into a wave. Both myself and the toilet were completely submerged. I emerged from the water clutching the tank, with the rest of the toilet gone, left somewhere astern in the froth of the wake. At least it was empty.

A cautionary tale!
