Now this is a hypothetical question. If you were planning to do extended Voyages and had the choice between two yachts; a Giles Wanderer, and a Buchanan Norman – both 33 ft, both blue water equipped, both the same condition and going for the same price, which one would you go for?

The Giles is is beamier therefore the is slightly more living space, the Norman has a newer layout, so even though she is thin, she has two large quarter berths. Performance wise I presume the Giles would be stiffer, but the the Norman being faster, and better to windward. Just wanted the panels opinions because If I do ever upgrade, it will be to one of these two designers ?

Thanks for the links. My personal preference is for a Wanderer as they are more "classic" in my opinion. The interior being more "old" too. People tell me that Buchanan's are very tender to start with and then sail in a groove.... I have never sailed one so intrigued...

Hypothetical question really to help my wonderlust. Just interested in peoples opinions. Met the Classic Saling Club at the LBS and I think a sail on their smaller Buchanan might be in order. (Ofcourse few classics sail as well as Roach /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )
