Very stupidly, I stored my sprayhood under a shelf in the garage where there was an old waste oil pump, and, sod's law being what it is, it has dripped oil onto the sprayhood, resulting in a patch about 6 inches across. Anyone have any tips about removing said stain from acrylic fabric? I have soaked it it biological washing powder with no apparant effect?

Yes you need a solovent, probably a non polar organic one. acetone, MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) trichloroethylene all spring to mind but they have elf and safety issues and are quite dangerous to use as well as having the possibility of removing some of the colour in the fabric. Have you thought about trying to get it dry cleaned either profesionaly or at one of the launderetts if the still have them, I think you would have to take the window panels out. Depending on the size of the stain you could try using the proprietry dry cleaners available in small bottles aerosols etc.

Good Luck
