Brunson prop anode

Does anyone know why some anodes for a Brunton prop have a hollow centre and others are solid? The one I have just bought from Bruntons has a hollow centre but the old one was solid.
Does it make any difference, other than one might last a longer.

Paint around the fixing holes which will extend the life as it is this area that is very thin.
Mine is hollow as the nut on the end of the prop shaft extends into the anode area.

The H5 saildrive zinc is solid and is secured with stainless machine screws. The regular version is hollow and secured with plastic screws.

The difference is due to the different arrangement of the prop nut inside the boss on those two versions.

That’s interesting. I have always been sold the ones with a hollow center despite the prop nut being completely recessed.

The prop fixing nut is well recessed and out of the way on mine too but it is the older hub, maybe the current hubs have a protruding fixing nut. Perhaps the Brunson supplied anode is manufactured by die casting.

I have used one of the solid sail-drive anodes on my shaft drive H5 propeller, I had to cut off some of the forward end on the sail drive anode so it would fit.
