Does anybody know why the Bruce is not a good choice for rock/weed?

Is it lack of holding capabilites OR the fact when it gets itself that stuck you've got a high chance of losing it/Cutting it off?

I know its not the desired type to use I'm just curious as to why.

Cheers

For fishing it's probably the best anchor to use. It is forgiving of a short scope and direction changes with tide and current. It's not good in rock or weed because it has a very low tip weight and does not dig in quite as agressively, dragging then collects weed and fouls the flukes from digging in. With rock the fluke shape does not allow for grapling. However as your general purpose go to fishing anchor few will match it. New age overnighting anchors is a seperate consideration altogether but their benefits will be of little interest to you as a lunch stop / fishing requirement

AH COOL! Nice to know, I honestly thought they where strictly for hard-ish sandy bottoms and as i have found a lovely little bank to fish on my Navionics sonar sounding 8-15m deep and LOADS of broken/Mixed ground i recon will be fantastic fishing, I though i would have to use a different Anchor altogether but turns out i can leave it and FISH ON!

thanks for that BruceK! (y)

I found a YT channel called “SV Panope”, where the guy does very extensive testing on most anchors produced, with some very interesting results.
The tests seem quite unbiased and unemotional, unlike the myriads of bizarre anchor threads on most forums.
