BR\'s weekend Beyond Expectation

Expected no wind and showers. Got brilliant sunshine, hot, hot, hot and enough wind to get BR going nicely.

Saturday got the cruising chute out and, briefly, achieved over 7 knots with it!!!!!!! Met Mr and Mrs Moodysabre on a mooring outside SYH. (Mr MS in my bad books for not taking a photo of my crusing chute as we whizzed past.) Claims he was asleep. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Met Pyrojames on Sunday morning in SYH. (Nice coffee, thanks James.) Had a lovely reach down to Wrabness (through a racing fleet of 505s - brought back memories /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) then a beat back up the Stour. (Don't talk to me Patrick, I'm in the 'zone'.)

Think it's the first time this year we haven't need oilskins. Certainly first time this year I've been sailing in shorts and T shirt. Hooray!

Uhoh - I knew there would be trouble. Look I was catching up on my beauty sleep - too little too late I know /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif - after an early start got us to the Orwell in splendid style. Woken by the galley slave to say someone is shouting out me and by the time I have woked and climbed up the stairs the Wasp had buzzed by! Sorry Bernie but I don't sleep with the VHF under my pillow /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We went on to RHYC for the night and damn fine it was too. Cheap, small, decent grub. Oh. Patrick - the dress code is that you have to wear clothes (you couldn't even wear a dress if you had packed one /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif)(your secret is safe with me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

Saw Morgana and 317 children as we departed the Orwell and circulated for a brief chat. What a sail back - chute up for several hours - the Wallet was benevolent. Top weekend.

Sorry Roger, I must have dreamt about dress codes, blazers cravattes etc /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif You seem like the sort of bloke that never leaves home without his flannels and club tie...

Hi All

Set out early friday morning not expecting much motored down the crouch easterly on the nose. Past inner crouch stuck the rags up and switched off the noisey smelly thing and was pleasently surprised with a 5 hour sail all the way to Bradwell good practise for SWMBO as the wind went NE and as plaesent a beat as your likely to have.
Met Mr Moody, seen Schmoo from a distance but didnt quite get to intorduce myself. Great meal in the green man decided to be really lazy waved off Mr Moody on Sat morning lazed around all day went for a walk and a cool beer in the kings head in Bradwell village.
The BBQ in the marina bar was very forgetable apart from one Timbo the DJ who seemed t have styled himself on timmy mallot and almost drove me from the bar but being the brave soul i am and stuck to my task of drinking as much Guinness as i could.
Sunday and one very hot slow sail back to the Crouch but all in all excellent weekend.

[/ QUOTE ]Would have replied earlier but have just recovered from frazzling combination of boat full of kids and Stone Point.... dangerous combination.... still I guess the sand will be removed from the cockpit eventually..... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We did stop temporarily for Lunch on Sunday on Guapa's mooring, but quite unbelievably, it was too hot without a breeze over the deck, so we didn't stay long..... (unrelated to the subject I know, but its too good an opportunity to say that it was 'too hot' to miss!)

I saw an "Artemis" but didn't put two and two together - guess that was you. I am still not attuned to look for forum boats. We left before the entertainment, which sounds like a wise choice.

Wasn't it a good weekend? Sailing winds and sunshine!

Slap a coat of deck paint on top and call it non slip! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

More than a good weekend - pretty good 6 days camping in a field by the R Yare from last Tuesday to Sunday. Great sailing wind Weds, Thurs & Fri (bit light on Sat) plus visits to various PH on the River. Not even 19 scouts could spoil it!
