Broom Continental tender size?

Blimey what a heated debate I merely questioned the merits of spending out on something that isn't really a necessity when buying an old Broom!
Personally I would save the money for now for the inevitable hard to find old Perkins bits and other general old boat parts that will be needed.
Await the first post about smokey engines and is it normal? Yes

PS: I do have a tender too, but its immaculate as it never comes out of its bag.

O come off it,just think of all the hours perusing the nylon netting catalogues and plastic plant brochures you will have missed out on and those green brocade lamp shades with the pink tassles will need changing at least once every 50 years.

Nah go for it, every time i see a sports boat with peeps sliding down the front deck through the windscreen it makes my day!
More recently the horror on their faces down river when they floor it and turn round and i am still there, ha ha!

But our sports boat has side decks!

Yeah 3 inches wide, even a 43 only has 6 inches. Perhaps most boaters would be safer with a bit more. I remember when I had the same boat as you and had to go and put the fenders out under Tower Bridge to go into St Kats. Took my life in my hands. Nope, never again.

Never felt unsafe on the bow of ours. The deck is wider on one side then the other so yes one side is easier then the other. Not an issue though.

I had to go out on the way back from Wells to Boston when it lumpy to retrieve a rope I had not stowed away properly that was aiming for the props. Wasn't an issue. The guard rails are high enough and the decks are wide enough to make it safe to go up front.

Ooo that reminds me...well done
About thirty or so boats set out on our recent club trip to Burnham.
Two broke down.
One limped in on single engine.
The other was towed in after crapping out half way there.
One required a 200 mile round trip to get a spare bit from Coastal Rides.
The other is still in Essex having been lifted out of the water for repair.
You will be amazed to learn that ........yes you,ve guessed it both casualities were from outdrives failing .

Less to go wrong.....

Oddly despite may threats from Oldgit that by now it should have imploded or dropped off the back of the boat, the stern drive has never given us any problems in the many, many, many hours we have run the boat.

As with anything though you get out what you put in. And we service it every year to ensure it is working properly and reliably.
