Whilst the broom 42 is not a planing boat it does get on the plane at around 20 knots. I am installing a new quantum 2 radar and wonder what angle of incline I should attempt to introduce? Thank you

I haven’t found that it makes a deal of difference but on our Hardy, which like your Broom is semi-displacement, I guess we have around 5-10 degrees - probably nearer 5. We had a new mast fabricated and went for less than the original as I thought we would spend a lot of time at displacement speed.

On our previous Broom 41 the radar dome was bolted on the mast with no angle of incline.

Thanks, that puts my mind to rest. Mine will just fit to a plate on the radar arch so I may just put an extra washer on the back bolts. I’ll be spending most of my time at 15 knots at most and as you say I don’t think I’ll notice a difference

Good point. I’m only fitting a radar as I’m re fitting all the electronics so I thought I may as well as in the scope of things it doesn’t add much. To be honest I use the radar maybe once or twice a year if that and I find AIS much more useful.
