Welcome to the forum
You will find that people on here are a friendly and helpful bunch so don't be concerned about asking what you think may be 'silly' questions. The thing is that others will be interested in what you are asking and the various responses that you will inevitably get. The ethos is really about what people contribute as well as what they take from the forum.

Sometimes a pm can make sense, but in general I consider the forum to be a discussion in the pub rather than a phone call. Often its interesting to read what others are discussing and often someone can chip in with additional information. No issue with people sending pm if its genuinely private but I for one like to "earwig": its surprising how much I have learned or come to understand in a better way from reading threads on the fora.
