Hello all,
Anyone know much about the differences between the Broom 1070 and Broom 33?
Are they decent enough boats?
Thanks

The 10/70 is a semi-displacement hull whereas the 33 is a planing hull. There have been some reports on here of the 33 not being able to get up on the plane. I think this was with the smaller engine option and possibly prop pitch issues.
They are both very nice boats. A lot depends on where you plan to use them. The 10/70 is an earlier model with a bolt on bathing platform, the 33’s is integrated/moulded.
More info here Broom 10/70 - Broom Owners Club and here Broom 33 - Broom Owners Club

Thanks Dino.

Does the 33 still have a keen? I had a look at the Club Website but can't access most of it as a none member.
I'm concerned about the 33's handling at slow speed as intend to use it on rivers and coastal.
Would be nice to compare the hull against the 1070.

Chum had a Broom 33 with pair of
150 HP ? Cummins.
It struggled to achieve 12 / 13 Knots at WOT.
Despite various expensive attempts to change pitch etc, both by the new and previous owners.
Sold on very quickly.
Lovely quiet comfortable and ideal for inland waterways.
Not so good for offshore or coastal.
Boat now on the Thames.
From memory doubts were expressed about alleged speeds in the MBM article at the time.

Seems like getting on the plane is fairly unlikely.
Therefore what are the boats like when used purely for displacement sailing?
With their hull shapes do they actually handle ok? What is fuel consumption like at around 8kts?

The hull was lengthened on later hulls in order to get better cruising speeds. ?
Am aware of a forumite who retrofitted a pair of 150 HP ? Nannis to a Broom 37 and it will do 20 knots.
