Broom 30

[ QUOTE ]
Despite all the pi$$ takers, ask yourself why there are so many Brooms around?

[/ QUOTE ] 'Cos people keep them to compliment their 240 Volvo estates /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Funnily enough, I took a peek at that an hour or so!

The Phantom is huge both up and downstairs because of it's design, and has a whopping front bed too, but thats an early one, and a bit basic inside for me.

Cheers though! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

And do not even think about diesel conversion, you could pile loads of money/time aggro into it and the thing will still be worth less than you paid/spent on it.
Another problem is that due to petrol costs the boat has probably been lying idle over several years, lack of use will have meant lack of maintaince,so even using "as is" will mean the usual petrol evils of non starting on damp mornings engines stalling in locks and is it on outdrives ? etc etc.

They just cost so much

Again, ask yourself why...

Supply and Demand, punters still pay it so remember that for when you want to sell on.

Oh, and Pheran......BMW old boy! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I used to have a Fjord 27 with twin 130hp petrols which are small in comparison, and it cost me £400 to go to Rochester and back, and that was 10 years ago!!

Dont do it, there are loads of Phantoms around with diesels (albeit not the best diesels to maintain due to spares problems - aint that right Dogsbody??)

[/ QUOTE ]

Only problem I have with spares is that I have to buy too many of them! No problem locating them if you have the cash to pay Mr Volvos prices.

Bloody hell, are they going THAT cheap now?

You've been aboard Unwinder, so know what they are like for space and to my mind a very good design in terms of how the space is used (thats why we bought one) and engine problems aside, I am very happy with the boat.

The Broom would be a cheaper option for river use though.

Terry seemed to think he could still get them from Volvo (as I expect could DB Marine), just was hoping to source some cheaper ones via your supplier.

My fairline mirage 29 has twin aq145a petrols. Always start first time, smooth running, not particularly thirsty at least on the river that is and easy to maintain.

>>HOT NEWS!>>>HOT NEWS>>>

We have just accepted an offer on No Regrets, and our offer has been accepted on Nephthys, the Broom.

This must be (Subject to survey of course) the quickest sell-buy deal in the history of boating, as I only signed off the brokers description yesterday, and the whole deal was concluded in princible within a day /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

So, once the deal has concluded, assuming things go as planned, I shall be taking up another 5' of River....

So what do I do now? Change my forum name now?

Do I have to walk around YBW headquarters seven times explaining why? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

"So, once the deal has concluded, assuming things go as planned, I shall be taking up another 5' of River...."

Why? Is the steering that bad on the Broom? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

In a few short weeks, I will have formed the 'Upper Thames Broom Massive' and you will be quaking in fear /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

We will collectively ensure that no Birchwood with dry fuel tanks is ever allowed to be towed anywhere between Teddington and beyond Osney bridge (Yes, tremble like the carrot crunching Oxford dogs you are, I now have a foldy-down windscreen)

Mwuahahahaaaaaa....we will exterminate you Birchwoods one by one*

*Subject to survey, I'll let you know in a few weeks, if not, please accept my apologies eh? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

"Upper Thames Broom Massive"

30ft is not a massive Broom.

More of a training Broom.

Do you get a dustpan too?

Ah yes, Nephthys.....the protective goddess of the dead. I knew her well, tho it strikes me she's a tad on the old side for you? Reputedly she was found inside Tutankamuns tomb - well, her statue was. Makes you wonder what these Pharoahs got up to in them underground caves.

I have to say, John, your behaviour strikes me as extremely fickle. First you buy an ickle sports boat and tell us all how wonderful it is. Then, before we've even got used to your rather strange ways, you're promoting peace and harmony and God bless all Birchwood 25's. No sooner have we managed to learn to tolerate this invasion of our peaceful haven of the river than you're leaving the relatively (to me anyway) distant parking lot at Thames and Kennet for the much more dangerously close (to me anyway) haven of Bray Marina. Now, before you've even been a Birchwood maven for a dog watch you're telling us it was all a mistake and you need something BIGGER.

Oh sod it.....no, I need to lie down.....I hope the brokers made a bob or two.....

As for Ramage and Flashheart, I hope they will learn from this and not be so quick to embrace any other johnny comes latelys that try to seduce them with websites and wode in future.

If anyone else with a Broom 30 is lurking I would run a mile or three if I were you........ /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
