Can anyone help?

How is a bronze shaft log fitted to a grp hull?

Is there deadwood glassed and bonded to the inside of the hull, that the shaft log is then bolted through to the outside of the hull?

Does the bronze shaft log have advantages over a glassed in stern tube?

Thanks

There will usually be a recess moulded into hull and the log will bolt in to that, you will generally find a log on a bigger more powerfull boat and the moulded tube on smaller boats

Ignore my previous post that was a load of borrocks!
The Log on mine has a thread internal
Which marries the stern tube
Two lugs which bolts go through to fit the thread in the deadwood.
Again what boat are we talking about?

Rather than mess about re-inventing the wheel, why not go to a specialist such as Teignbridge www.teignbridgeengineering.co.uk who will probably have exactly what you need in a standard design. Not the only company - Clements and T Norris and Lake Engineering also make stern gear. Better to spend a couple of hours seeing what is on the market than wasting time with a one-off.
