I have removed all of the bronze through hull fiiitngs from my boat. (seacocks and stern gland. I have refurbished them so they now work and have cleaned and polished them so they look like new.Should I just reinstall them and allow them to build up the usual green patina over time or should I paint or coat them to prevent surface corrosion from bilge water, salt air.
Many thanks

So, you have removed the protective oxide layer, plus a little more.
You can either let it build up again, or paint it. Paint does not stick well to bronze and will not significantly increase the components life, as usually the dezinctification starts in the inside.

If you want them to look nice , then Owatrol and varnish will do a turn. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
