This is a post to serve as a warning to you all out there regarding an experience I have just had with a broker in southampton called Walrus.

They have fallen out with Sealine, they are refusing to let sealine broker staff on their hard standing/walkway. This seems to have come about following a sale which Walrus lost to Sealine brokerage that both had listed. Bear in mind that this had nothing to do with my boat and I was just caught up in the middle as I own an F37 listed with both parties.

When I queried what was happening with Walrus regarding this (as I needed both brokers to work together) Eric at Walrus was very rude to me he didn't care, and told me he was delisting my boat, and then started to pressure me to remove it from his walkway.

Luckily Sealine were very nice to me and found us alternative hard standing at their cost.

So beware, Walrus Yacht Sales in Shamrock Quay can be very unreliable (they are never there), and rude/arrogant. My advice to you all would be if you own a Sealine boat, or any other for that matter I would avoid Walrus in Shamrock Quay

Thats interesting.
I emailed both Walrus and Sealine Brokerage in Swanwick inquiring about listing my boat as I had intended changing up. No response from either company /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Business must be very good.

Put on hold. We were thinking of F42/5 at the time but have re-considered due to difficulty with SSUK /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Yep, that was us.

We had to pay ourselves to shift it out of their hard standing, as I say Sealine are skippering it round to RK Marine for us and paying to lift it out there.

You must be a local, either that or work for Walrus!!! ;-)

They are telling me that Business is slow at the moment so look for a bargain.

I had the same issue with them when I bought mine with the stock sales team (rather than broker), its almost like they don't want your money at times they are so laid back.

am skipping out of the boating for the time being to return in about a year, getting married, new house etc means i need to sell up :-(

oooh do persist, if i'd have had the money, I would have bought at 42/5, they are my favourite, settled for the F37, still a great boat and I know one for sale ;-)

I will be holding off on purchase for the moment. We are enjoying our C39 very much but when we do change, it wont be for another Sealine. They have much to learn about customer service IMHO.

I manage a sea school out of Shamrock Quay - I was walking over to the Yellow Welly when I saw your boat in the sling. It was the name that caught my eye - thought it was rather good. A little racy I thought /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I've nothing at all to do with Walrus.

Whilst I'm all for naming and shaming, I have to report that my own experiences with Eric at Walrus have been very positive. I first met him a few years ago when he sold me a Sealine about which he was very truthful and virtually tried to persuade me not to buy it. I bought it all the same, he was right and I sold it within 6 months. 2 years ago he sold my Targa 48 in a matter of days when Peters had failed to sell it in months
I'm surprised he was rude to you, Sea Biscuit and I rather think that there may be another side to this story which perhaps has not been told?

The dog is called Biscuit, everyone on the dock in Ocean Village knows him as we were usually calling after him as he toddled off away from the boat.

My sister has a boat called Sea Dragon (and know she doesn't have a dragon) so it made me think of Sea Biscuit, nothing to do with the horse or the dreadfull movie

I am honestly not holding back, and I was very surprised at his attitude too. I really had nothing to do with the bad feeling between Eric and John at Sealine and was just caught in the middle trying to get both brokers to work things out and both represent me. I really mean it when I say that Eric just got really rude when I asked if they could work things out, Eric then refused to send his customers around to RK marine and told me he was delisting me.

Not very nice. I am glad you have had a good experience with him in the past, maybe you were lucky, maybe I just was caught up in something between two rivals, but whatever Eric really should have not been that rude as he really didn't seem to care how many customers he lost because of this as I asked him that question.

Deleted User, was surprised to see your location as Chesham, Bucks as have just moved out of Nalders Road having lived there for many years.

That's a shame, and I know what you mean. Just don't go looking for your next boat at Walrus, or list your boat with that company as they too seem to have a lot to learn about customer service and I am a very laid back person (especially when sitting in the cockpit with a beer and a good book).

Blimey, small world innit. We actually live up in Pednor and I run my business from one of the industrial units off Botley Road
Where you living now?
