We are looking to widen the area of investigation for a new boat and North Wales (Anglesey in particular) is just 90 mins away on the ferry. I know about the big boys who advertise in the sailing mags, but can anyone point me in the direction of the others that have smaller budget boats?

I may be entirly wrong but all the adverts I have viewed in my idle moments on the web for that sort of boat eminating from North Wales including dickies seem to be obviously more expensive than else where. It may just be that they keep their boats in good nick around there, we bought ours from the area but it was advertised from the sellers house near liverpool and lacked that extra price I referred to earlier

as you say Anglesey / North Wales is not a particularly cheap place to buy a boat but you could try www.networkyachtbrokers.co.uk who have a broker in both Conwy and Pwllheli ( Conwy currently list a Trapper 300 for £8500 ) Also try Firmhelm & Partingtons both in Pwllheli

I will also send you a PM if I come across anything interesting for sale privately ?

I know it's all relative, but that a racer/cruiser and not a cruiser/racer /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Offer graciously accepted.

I don't mind travelling a bit, it's more the transport cost for getting it home again.

Jeeze you try and help out............ /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

All yachts that size are slower than a motor boat so whats the problem...... well, apart from my Mo-boat which gives a Mirror Dingy a good run for the money /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Good luck with the search!

It was discovering them that prompted me to enquire about more. They have a cracking little Eygthene 24 which we would buy for the short term should something else not turn up.

[/ QUOTE ] The Eygthene is fundamentally a good boat but I don't anything at all about that particular one.

Never heard of them, thanks!

I've bought through them (Partington's) - Good people to deal with in my experience - Give them a ring, because the owner (Will?) will know what's around. Proper boatyard IMHO.

We left our details with pretty much every broker from Pwllheli to Preston when looking in the same sort of price range, and never had a response from anyone, despite eminently suitable boats coming in.

Network seem very snooty (Conwy and Pwllheli) maybe different if you've got £100k+ to spend; Dickies are OK, and I guess turn over the most boats. Preston Marina seem to have good prices, but a lot of boats are ex-lakes, and lack a lot of what you would take for granted for sea use (like no instruments, VHF or any form of maintenance). Worth a look, though.

Newbridge Venturer any use to you? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

We looked at all the Eygthene's available nationally when buying the last boat and couldn't find one single example in good condition. It's a very good little boat which is often badly neglected. So judging by the pics alone, this one example looks streets ahead in condition and price versus the competition.
