broker arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Finally, we have a breakthrough....

The brokers have realised the situation was a bit daft, and through discussions with the current owner have agreed to release the boat to me on Thursday evening, if provided with a letter confirming that the finance is not going to be cancelled, and a copy of the insurance certificate.

This is a common sense approach. My personal contact has worked hard to resolve this, and I appreciate his efforts..... and as an aside.... he did mention that he had seen this thread!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif ....not sure whether it will have helped or not though!

So, a happy conclusion all round.... the risk is now pretty much removed for all... and I don't need to lay out a large sum of money on a credit card... a serious wobble, but one that at least has been resolved with some common sense from the broker.....

Hope that weather forecast remains good!

Well, if its not one thing its another.
Now that you have secured a boat, the wind is now forecast F1. Sheesh. I do hope your engine is nice and quiet, and there isnt a diesel strike.

Glad to hear it's been resolved, and all credit to the guy at Canasta, who obviously went the extra mile to sort it out. Apologies for calling him/them an arse /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

So - it's diesels at dawn on Friday, then? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Fairly early kick off from Lymington, around 07h30, otherwise its against the tide all the way... only heading for Portsmouth, a short first leg to shake her down, and sort out any issues, along with access to a chandlery at Portsmouth should we need one.... so into Portsmouth by late morning.... unless its really hot, and we're having a lot of fun... and then we might hang around a bit... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Perhaps see you out there!

Way to go Neil.

It's not the bollocks that a company/individual drops the defines them, it's the manner in which they sort things out.

Great to hear that matters are coming to a resolution. The Stuge family will be down at our beloved vessel this weekend and, subject to timing constraints, will be pleased to come and cast off your lines, should you so wish. Especially if there is half a chance of the bubbly flowing /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. If you fancy a very short first leg there will be a bottle or two, of something quite palatable, waiting for you up the Beaulieu.

Oh - and 7:30 is way to early for me ... we'll probably get going mid-late morning ... current plan is to head for Cowes.

Indeed it is..... a stressful day yesterday, but one that, as you suggest, shows the broker is a much more positive light.....

They have suggested that as reinforcement for their apology, a bottle of something pleasant will be left on board....

Bealieu on Friday is perhaps just a little too short a leg!, so suspect plan A will remain in place, and towards Portsmouth....

It would however, be great to see you all, either Thursday evening, or Friday morning.... if Thursday evening, then a spare glass or two would certainly be available for use.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Been following the drama unfold and it's great that it has finished on a high to match the weather forecast.
Have a fantastic sail - and I hope you have endless sea miles of fun /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Seems to me that 'naming & shaming' would not embarass them (whoever they are). My partner, Sambuca, and I have been searching for our perfect boat for about two years and have yet to find a broker that will get off his/her arse to answer or research any questions that involve more effort than reading their own (probably owner produced) crib sheet!!!

Glad its sorted for you Neil Too little wind probably better than too much for your delivery trip. early days yet, could be a perfect sailing breeze.

Sounds like your man at the brokers has earned a drop of the hard stuff for above and beyond the call of duty etc...
